"Where's Tess" - Chapter Screenplay

The Project: "Where's Tess" is an offline visual novel adventure game with anime and simulation elements, centered around becoming a top travel blogger and influencer.

The Work: As part of the narrative team and an ENG-SPA translator, I crafted both branching and linear dialogues, ensured that the environment and character art enhanced the story, and handled playtesting and QA, including bug detection and resolution. It was also crucial for me to ensure that the LGBTQ representation was a significant and carefully integrated component of the game's narrative.

Extract: CHAPTER SCREENPLAY. In the main campaign, Tess encounters Holly, a initially aloof influencer who gradually becomes more open. In this three-part side story, Tess invites Holly on a picnic date, exploring their evolving relationship.

1. INT. DARIKA.APARTMENT.ROOM - DAY (9AM)

NEW FACES OF TRAVEL DM

Dear Tess from TessTravels,

We are happy to announce that, from this weekend on, the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will begin to perform on Sunday afternoons at Lumpini Park. The free concerts will be held at the pavilion Sala Bhirom Bakdi, so we suggest bringing a mat and a picnic to enjoy one of Bangkok’s most wonderful activities.

Tess: That’s so cool, I love concerts! I need to check this one out asap.

Tess: Mmm, is anyone free today?

HOLLY DM

Holly: Cinnabon.

->Hi, Holly!

              Holly: Hey, hey. What’s up?

              ->Are you free today?

              <<wait 0>>

->I was thinking we could go somewhere together.

Holly: I’m free. Where are you taking me today?

->I was just thinking about you!

Holly: Huh, really? Were you thinking about roping me into one of your adventures?

->Sure was!

->Mmm, maybe…

Holly: Look at you, being all mysterious.

Holly: Okay, I’ll bite. What’s this one about?

<<wait 0>>

->Meet me at Lumpini Park today at 3pm after lunch. You’ll see the rest when we get there.

Holly: Should I be nervous or excited?

->Nervous!

Holly: Can’t back down now, can I?

->Excited!

Holly: Heh, you’ve got enthusiasm to last a lifetime.

->A bit of both, why not?

Holly: Guess those are the best kinds of surprises.

Holly: See you there, Cinnabon.

1. INT. DARIKA.APARTMENT.LIVING.ROOM - DAY (1:00PM)

Tess: Good afternoon, Darika!

Darika: Tessy! How’re you-

-surprised-

Darika: Whoa, do you need help with all that?

Tess: I’m okay! Just packing some stuff up!

-sassy-

Darika: More like having a full-on fistfight with a basket. Are you having a picnic?

Tess: Yep! I’m going to Lumpini Park with Holly!

Darika: Nice! But you’re not feeding an entire village on your way, y’know!

Darika: Here, let me help.

Tess: What do you mean? I’m just bringing a few sweets!

Darika: Haha.

Tess: Thanks for the help.

Darika: No prob!

Darika: Have fun with Holly, Tessy! And make room for the bug spray. Those little guys are vicious.

Tess: Oh, right! Thank you, Darika!

TESS INNER MONOLOGUE

Tess: I can’t wait to go to the park with Holly!

Tess: Mmm, I should probably wear something cool and casual.

Tess: Let’s take a look!

AFTER THE DRESS IS CHOSEN

Tess: I look incredible!

TESS INNER MONOLOGUE

Tess: Phew, got here on time!

Tess: I wonder if Holly’s already here…

Tess: There she is! Right by the lake.

Tess: Holly! Hi!

Holly: Hey, Cinnabon. Have you been running? You’re a little red.

Tess: H-Huh? Oh, well, yeah, I guess!

Tess: I was just at the vending machine over there.

Tess: I had to get all the goodies set up before I could meet up with you!

Holly: A giant grin on your face, sweat down your forehead…

Holly: A basket under your arm and a mat under the other.

Holly: Not gonna lie, this is a pretty ridiculous sight.

Tess: Ridiculously adorable, you mean!

Holly: Mmm…

Tess: I know you think so.

-smiling-

Holly: Your outfit is really cute, too.

Tess: "Too"? So you’re saying I’m cute?

-blushing-

Holly: Oh, you’re-

Tess: Haha, sorry, I had to do it!

Tess: But really, thank you, Holly. You look amazing, too!

Holly: Thank you.

Holly: Though, I’m not sure if my outfit is appropriate. I don’t know what the occasion is…

Tess: Nah, don’t worry! You’ll find out soon.

Tess: Come with me!

Holly: Lead the way, Cinnamon Head.
